What We Do

To meet the needs of this remote population of over 300,000, Amani has undertaken several initiatives to maximize healthcare outcomes for the people of Idjwi, a community where the life expectancy is just 25 years old. The health program focuses on four primary areas and includes: maternal health, under five children’s health, malnutrition, and preventable diseases.  In addition, Amani’s maternal health program includes, providing pre and post-natal care and family planning, offering supplies and providing education to help stabilize Idwji’s high fertility rate.
