WHY DOES IDJWI MATTER?

A PLACE OF PEACE AND PROGRESS

Due to years of political neglect followed by wars and violence, the infrastructure is in shambles and the consequences are dire. Despite the crisis, the people of Idjwi are rolling up their sleeves and rapidly making their world a better place.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY

The island is four times the size of Manhattan with a population of 250,000. Although the region is extremely poor, the people are peace loving and law abiding. Your donation goes to work by teaching people, full of hope and energy, to help themselves.

PROGRESS GOES UP AND OUT

Amani Global Works recognizes that poor health is both a cause and effect of poverty and that regardless of investments in economic development, growth cannot occur in a population that lacks basic health care. In December 2009, Amani Global Works officially established its first clinic in the Northern part of Idjwi Island and has since provided more than 40,000 patient treatments as well as having provided more than 50,000 meals to children through our nutrition program.
